02 · HOW TO MIX

Mixing a 20 mg vial with 6 mL of BAC water

Using a 1 mL (100-unit) insulin syringe, 6 full draws of bacteriostatic water gives 3.33 mg/mL.

  1. Bacteriostatic water running slowly down the inside wall of a peptide vial1

    Add the water slowly

Wipe both rubber stoppers with an alcohol swab and let them dry. Draw 6 mL of bacteriostatic water and let it run slowly down the inside of the vial wall — not straight onto the powder.

  2. Hand gently swirling an upright vial in a small circle2

    Swirl gently

Swirl or roll the vial gently until the powder has dissolved. Give it a few minutes to settle if needed.

  3. A vial being shaken with a red cross through it3

    Don't shake it

Shaking can damage the peptide and cause foaming. Gentle swirling only.

  4. Close-up of a vial with small undissolved particles and a caution symbol4

    Check it's fully clear

Only use it once it is fully clear with no particles. Label the vial with the date and 3.33 mg/mL, then store it in the fridge at 2–8 °C.

How it works

Vilon is the synthetic dipeptide Lys-Glu, also called lysylglutamic acid. An FDA substance record lists Vilon dihydrate as a synonym of lysylglutamic acid dihydrate.

In laboratory work, Lys-Glu increased interleukin-2 gene expression in mouse spleen lymphocytes. Cultured human and rat thymus cells exposed to Vilon-related dipeptides showed changes in CD5 and T-cell differentiation markers; these are cell-culture findings, not evidence of an immune benefit in people.

A 2022 experiment treated THP-1 monocytes and macrophages with Vilon among several peptides. The observations on inflammatory signalling and cell adhesion were in vitro, so they do not establish an effect after injection in people.

Illustrated mechanism explainer

What the research shows

  • The FDA substance record identifies Vilon dihydrate as lysylglutamic acid dihydrate; the parent active moiety has molecular weight 275.3.
  • In vitro, Lys-Glu stimulated interleukin-2 gene expression in mouse spleen lymphocytes, with the effect depending on concentration and treatment duration.
  • A 2013 experiment in cultured human and rat thymus cells reported increased CD5 expression and differentiated T-cell markers. It was a cell-culture experiment, not a clinical dosing study.
  • A 2022 THP-1 cell experiment used 100 ng/mL of each peptide, including Vilon, and assessed cells after overnight treatment or 2, 4, 8 and 12 hours. These laboratory results cannot establish human benefit or safety.
  • In aged rats, oral Vilon given for 1 month changed glucose transport measures in the small intestine. This does not establish a dose or outcome in people.
  • No Vilon drug-package label was returned by DailyMed, and the Australian ARTG search did not identify a Vilon therapeutic-good entry. Vilon is not an approved medicine in Australia.

Reported side effects

  • Published sources checked here do not provide a reliable human adverse-event rate or an established safety profile for subcutaneous Vilon.
  • The 2022 Vilon findings were from cells treated in vitro at 100 ng/mL, so they cannot predict adverse effects after use in people.
  • DailyMed returned 0 Vilon drug-package labels, so there is no US label listing contraindications, interactions or adverse effects for this product.
  • Do not treat the 1-month oral rat experiment or cultured-cell findings as injection safety data.

Important notes

  • Vilon is not an approved medicine in Australia. The ARTG is the TGA database for therapeutic goods that can be supplied in Australia; the Vilon keyword search did not identify a matching Vilon therapeutic-good entry.
  • WADA's 2026 Prohibited List does not name Vilon or Lys-Glu. Its S0 category prohibits pharmacological substances with no current approval by any governmental regulatory health authority; athletes should obtain an eligibility decision from their anti-doping organisation before use.
  • There is no clinically established human dose or adequate subcutaneous safety dataset. The chart is copied from an educational reference protocol, not a clinical label.
  • Vilon is not a cancer treatment. A 2005 report describes preliminary combined-treatment experience in elderly colorectal-cancer patients but its abstract does not report the Vilon dose, participant count or adverse-event rates.
  • Never use a mixed vial that is cloudy or has particles in it.

Injection basics

  • Use a new sterile 1 mL (100-unit) U-100 insulin syringe, 27–31G, every time — never reuse or share.
  • Wipe the vial stopper and the skin with an alcohol swab and let both dry first.
  • Inject under the skin (subcutaneously) of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, and rotate sites.
  • Put used syringes straight into an approved sharps container — the NDSS lists Australian disposal options.

06 · QUICK ANSWERS

Vilon questions

How many U-100 units is 67 mcg of Vilon?

With 6 mL in a 20 mg vial, the concentration is 3.33 mg/mL. A 67 mcg amount is 2.01 U-100 units, or 0.0201 mL.

How much bacteriostatic water is used for Vilon 20 mg?

The reference protocol uses 3 mL, which makes 6.67 mg/mL. This page defaults to 6 mL, which makes 3.33 mg/mL and keeps the 67 mcg start amount at 2.01 U-100 units; confirm the vial can hold this volume.

How much Vilon is used in the first five-day course?

The first five amounts total 1,000 mcg, or 1 mg. At the 6 mL default mix, that total is 30 U-100 units, or 0.30 mL, across the five injections.

How many units is 333 mcg or 667 mcg of Vilon?

At the 6 mL default mix, 333 mcg is 9.99 U-100 units, or 0.0999 mL. A 667 mcg amount is 20.01 units, or 0.2001 mL.
