02 · HOW TO MIX

Mixing a 600 mg vial with 2 mL of BAC water

Using a 1 mL (100-unit) insulin syringe, 2 full draws of bacteriostatic water gives 300 mg/mL.

  1. Bacteriostatic water running slowly down the inside wall of a peptide vial1

    Add the water slowly

Wipe both rubber stoppers with an alcohol swab and let them dry. Draw 2 mL of bacteriostatic water and let it run slowly down the inside of the vial wall — not straight onto the powder.

  2. Hand gently swirling an upright vial in a small circle2

    Swirl gently

Swirl or roll the vial gently until the powder has dissolved. Give it a few minutes to settle if needed.

  3. A vial being shaken with a red cross through it3

    Don't shake it

Shaking can damage the peptide and cause foaming. Gentle swirling only.

  4. Close-up of a vial with small undissolved particles and a caution symbol4

    Check it's fully clear

Only use it once it is fully clear with no particles. Label the vial with the date and 300 mg/mL, then store it in the fridge at 2–8 °C.

How it works

Reduced glutathione, or GSH, is a naturally occurring tripeptide and an important non-enzymatic antioxidant inside mammalian cells.

It can neutralise some oxidants directly and serves as a cofactor for antioxidant and detoxification enzymes. When GSH is oxidised to GSSG, glutathione reductase can recycle it using NADPH.

What the research shows

  • In a 2009 randomised, double-blind pilot in Parkinson's disease, 21 adults were assigned to 1,400 mg intravenous glutathione or placebo three times weekly for 4 weeks. The trial found no significant difference in motor-score change (P = 0.32).
  • A 2025 review reported that 1,200 mg intravenous glutathione twice weekly for 6 weeks produced temporary skin-lightening reports in 37.5% of participants versus 18.7% with placebo; the review also reported adverse events in 32% of treated participants.
  • The TGA ARTG lists a medicine named Glutathione under ARTG ID 232323, dated 24 December 2014. That register entry does not establish this 600 mg reconstituted-vial schedule as a product label.
  • CDC states that no FDA-approved glutathione drug product exists in the United States. In its 2026 investigation, CDC had reports of more than 25 illnesses across at least 4 states after injectable glutathione; at least 3 people were hospitalised.

Reported side effects

  • The 4-week Parkinson's pilot reported no withdrawals because of adverse events and similar reported adverse events in the glutathione and placebo groups; this small intravenous trial cannot establish safety for other formulations or schedules.
  • The 2025 review reported that 32% of people given 1,200 mg intravenously twice weekly for 6 weeks had adverse events, including liver dysfunction and 1 anaphylaxis case.
  • FDA reported 7 people who received 1,400 mg intravenous compounded glutathione and developed reactions within minutes, including nausea, vomiting, chills, body aches, low blood pressure and breathing difficulty; testing found some endotoxin results up to 5 times the appropriate limit.

Important notes

  • The chart dose comes from an educational reference site, not a clinical dose label. It must not be treated as an established subcutaneous dose.
  • The TGA says glutathione used in IV drips is a Schedule 4 prescription medicine, and public advertising of IV drips or injections containing glutathione is prohibited.
  • CDC states there is no FDA-approved glutathione drug product in the United States. The existence of the Australian ARTG entry does not make this 600 mg research-vial protocol a TGA product label.
  • FDA and CDC warn that dietary-supplement-grade glutathione must not be used for sterile injectable products because contaminants including endotoxins can cause severe reactions.
  • Never use a mixed vial that is cloudy or has particles in it.

Injection basics

  • Use a new sterile 1 mL (100-unit) U-100 insulin syringe, 27–31G, every time — never reuse or share.
  • Wipe the vial stopper and the skin with an alcohol swab and let both dry first.
  • Inject under the skin (subcutaneously) of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, and rotate sites.
  • Put used syringes straight into an approved sharps container — the NDSS lists Australian disposal options.

06 · QUICK ANSWERS

Glutathione questions

How many units is 100 mg of glutathione in a 600 mg vial?

With 2 mL in a 600 mg vial, the concentration is 300 mg/mL. A 100 mg amount is 33.3 units, or 0.333 mL, on a U-100 syringe.

How much bacteriostatic water is used for a 600 mg glutathione vial?

The reference protocol uses 2 mL. That gives 300 mg/mL, so each U-100 syringe unit contains 3 mg and 100 units contain 300 mg.

How long does a 600 mg glutathione vial last?

At the reference chart's once-daily amounts, 600 mg supplies 6 days at 100 mg, 4 days at 150 mg, or 3 days at 200 mg.
