Livagen Dosage Protocol

Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala (KEDA) · tetrapeptide bioregulator

The reference protocol uses 500 mcg daily for weeks 1–2, rising by 500 mcg every 2 weeks to 2 mg daily from week 7. With 3 mL bacteriostatic water, a 20 mg vial is 6.67 mg/mL, so the 500 mcg start amount measures 7.5 units (0.075 mL) on a U-100 syringe.

02 · HOW TO MIX

Mixing a 20 mg vial with 3 mL of BAC water

Using a 1 mL (100-unit) insulin syringe, 3 full draws of bacteriostatic water gives 6.67 mg/mL.

  1. Bacteriostatic water running slowly down the inside wall of a peptide vial1

    Add the water slowly

Wipe both rubber stoppers with an alcohol swab and let them dry. Draw 3 mL of bacteriostatic water and let it run slowly down the inside of the vial wall — not straight onto the powder.

  2. Hand gently swirling an upright vial in a small circle2

    Swirl gently

Swirl or roll the vial gently until the powder has dissolved. Give it a few minutes to settle if needed.

  3. A vial being shaken with a red cross through it3

    Don't shake it

Shaking can damage the peptide and cause foaming. Gentle swirling only.

  4. Close-up of a vial with small undissolved particles and a caution symbol4

    Check it's fully clear

Only use it once it is fully clear with no particles. Label the vial with the date and 6.67 mg/mL, then store it in the fridge at 2–8 °C.

How it works

Livagen is the synthetic tetrapeptide Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala, also called KEDA. It is described as a short peptide bioregulator, but that label does not establish a therapeutic effect in people.

In vitro, Livagen inhibited enkephalin-degrading enzymes in human serum; the reported half-maximal inhibitory concentration was 20 μM. It did not bind mu or delta opioid receptors in rat brain membrane preparations in that experiment.

Cell and animal experiments reported changes in rat liver-culture morphology and protein synthesis. Those models cannot show that Livagen treats liver disease or improves liver function in people.

Illustrated mechanism explainer

What the research shows

  • A 2003 in-vitro experiment reported a Livagen IC50 of 20 μM for inhibition of enkephalin-degrading enzymes in human serum; it was not a clinical dosing or outcomes study.
  • In a 2005 rat experiment, two weeks of oral Livagen changed digestive-enzyme activity; the paper also reported a 50% reduction of one small-intestine dipeptidase activity in vitro. This does not establish effects of injected Livagen in people.
  • A 2001 cell-culture experiment used rat hepatocytes from animals aged 1 to 24 months and reported increased protein synthesis, with the largest reported effect in cells from older rats.
  • ClinicalTrials.gov API searches for both Livagen and Lys-Glu-Asp-Ala returned no study records when checked in October 2026. No clinically established human dose was identified.
  • Livagen is not an approved medicine in Australia. TGA says goods not on the ARTG have not been assessed by it for safety, quality or effectiveness.

Reported side effects

  • No human clinical safety study or established human side-effect rate was identified in the ClinicalTrials.gov searches, so safety after subcutaneous use is unknown.
  • The 2005 animal paper administered Livagen orally for two weeks, not by subcutaneous injection; it cannot quantify injection-related reactions or human adverse effects.
  • TGA states that unapproved therapeutic goods have not been assessed for safety, quality or effectiveness, so product identity, potency and sterility cannot be assumed.

Important notes

  • Livagen is not an approved medicine in Australia; the TGA advises that unapproved goods have not been assessed for safety, quality or effectiveness.
  • WADA's 2026 List does not name Livagen or AEDL, but S0 prohibits at all times any pharmacological substance with no current approval by a governmental regulatory health authority. Athletes should obtain written anti-doping advice before use.
  • The amounts in the chart are copied from a reference-site educational protocol, not from a human clinical dose-finding study.
  • Never use a mixed vial that is cloudy or has particles in it.

Injection basics

  • Use a new sterile 1 mL (100-unit) U-100 insulin syringe, 27–31G, every time — never reuse or share.
  • Wipe the vial stopper and the skin with an alcohol swab and let both dry first.
  • Inject under the skin (subcutaneously) of the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, and rotate sites.
  • Put used syringes straight into an approved sharps container — the NDSS lists Australian disposal options.

06 · QUICK ANSWERS

Livagen questions

How many units is 500 mcg of Livagen?

With 3 mL in a 20 mg vial, the concentration is 6.67 mg/mL. A 500 mcg amount is 7.5 units, or 0.075 mL, on a U-100 syringe.

How much bacteriostatic water is used for a 20 mg Livagen vial?

The attributed protocol uses 3 mL, giving 6.67 mg/mL. At that concentration, 1 mg is 15 units, or 0.15 mL, on a U-100 syringe.

How many units is 2 mg of Livagen with a 3 mL mix?

With 20 mg mixed in 3 mL, 2 mg is 30 units, or 0.30 mL, on a U-100 syringe.

How long does a 20 mg Livagen vial last?

A 20 mg vial contains 40 daily amounts of 500 mcg, 20 daily amounts of 1 mg, about 13.3 daily amounts of 1.5 mg, or 10 daily amounts of 2 mg.
