Peptide Cycling: How Long to Run Each Peptide

Different peptides require different cycle lengths for optimal results in test subjects. This guide covers recommended on/off periods for every major research peptide.

Historical research article — verify before use: Some older examples, including amounts, routes, diluents and storage windows, have not been individually rechecked against current primary sources and may not apply to any human or supplier vial. Always check the exact product's formulation, primary sources and current licensed instructions before interpreting preparation or dosing information.

Why Cycling Matters

Cycling — alternating periods of use with periods of rest — is standard practice in peptide research for several reasons. First, it prevents receptor desensitisation, where the body downregulates its response to continuous stimulation. Second, it allows researchers to assess the lasting effects of a protocol. Third, it reduces the risk of unknown long-term effects from continuous administration. Each peptide class has different optimal cycle lengths based on its mechanism of action and half-life.

Healing Peptides (BPC-157, TB-500)

BPC-157: • Cycle length: 4-6 weeks • Break: 2-4 weeks off • Rationale: Most tissue repair in test subjects occurs within the first 4 weeks. Extended use beyond 6 weeks shows diminishing returns. TB-500: • Loading phase: 4-6 weeks (higher dose, 2-5mg twice weekly) • Maintenance: Can continue at reduced dose (2mg once weekly) for 4-8 additional weeks • Break: 4 weeks off after maintenance • Rationale: TB-500's systemic effects build over time, requiring a longer initial loading phase. Wolverine Stack (BPC-157 + TB-500): • Cycle length: 4-6 weeks combined • Break: 4 weeks off • Can repeat for 2-3 cycles if needed

Growth Hormone Peptides (CJC-1295, Ipamorelin, GHRP-2/6)

CJC-1295 + Ipamorelin: • Cycle length: 12-16 weeks • Break: 4-8 weeks off • Rationale: GH effects are gradual and cumulative. Short cycles don't allow enough time for meaningful body composition changes. GHRP-2 / GHRP-6: • Cycle length: 8-12 weeks • Break: 4 weeks off • Rationale: These can cause receptor desensitisation faster than Ipamorelin. Regular breaks maintain sensitivity. MK-677 (Ibutamoren - oral): • Cycle length: 8-12 weeks • Break: 4-8 weeks off • Rationale: Prolonged use can elevate blood glucose and prolactin in test subjects.

Tanning and Sexual Health Peptides

Melanotan II: • Loading phase: 2-3 weeks (daily dosing at 250-500 mcg) • Maintenance: 1-2 times per week at 250 mcg • Break: Can be used seasonally (summer months) • Rationale: Once melanin production is stimulated, maintenance doses sustain the effect. PT-141 (Bremelanotide): • Use: As needed, 1-2mg per dose • Maximum frequency: No more than 2-3 times per week • No formal cycling required — used on-demand • Rationale: PT-141 works acutely and does not require loading or continuous use.

Anti-Aging and Longevity Peptides

Epithalon: • Cycle length: 10-20 days • Break: 4-6 months off • Rationale: Epithalon's telomerase activation effects persist long after the administration period ends. GHK-Cu: • Cycle length: 8-12 weeks • Break: 4 weeks off • Rationale: Collagen remodelling and skin repair are gradual processes requiring sustained administration. NAD+: • Cycle length: 4-8 weeks • Break: 2-4 weeks off • Rationale: NAD+ precursor supplementation benefits from periodic cycling to maintain mitochondrial sensitivity. Semax / Selank (Nootropics): • Cycle length: 2-4 weeks • Break: 2-4 weeks off • Rationale: Short cycles prevent tolerance development while maintaining cognitive enhancement effects in test subjects.
