Overview: Two GHRPs, Different Profiles
GHRP-2 and GHRP-6 are hexapeptide growth hormone secretagogues that both activate the ghrelin receptor to stimulate pituitary GH release. Despite their similar names and mechanisms, they produce notably different side-effect profiles. GHRP-6 causes intense hunger (strong ghrelin mimicry) with minimal cortisol/prolactin effects, while GHRP-2 causes moderate hunger with mild cortisol and prolactin elevation. GHRP-2 is generally considered more potent for GH release per microgram. Both are dosed at 100-300 mcg and administered 1-3 times daily in test subjects. For research purposes only.
Head-to-Head Comparison Table
GH release potency: GHRP-2 = Higher | GHRP-6 = High
Hunger stimulation: GHRP-2 = Moderate | GHRP-6 = Intense (within 20 min)
Cortisol elevation: GHRP-2 = Mild | GHRP-6 = Minimal
Prolactin elevation: GHRP-2 = Mild | GHRP-6 = Minimal
Dose range: Both = 100-300 mcg, 1-3x daily
Vial sizes: Both = 2mg, 5mg, 10mg
Reconstitution: Both = 2mL BAC water per vial
Stacking with CJC-1295: Both = Standard practice
Desensitisation risk: Both = Moderate (higher than Ipamorelin)
Best timing: GHRP-2 = Before bed | GHRP-6 = Before meals
Which to Choose for Research
Choose GHRP-2 when: Maximum GH output per injection is the priority, moderate appetite stimulation is acceptable, or the research requires the most potent hexapeptide secretagogue available.
Choose GHRP-6 when: Strong appetite stimulation is desired for the protocol (recovery research, underweight test subjects), cortisol/prolactin elevation must be minimised, or the research investigates ghrelin-pathway appetite signalling.
Both are effective GH secretagogues commonly stacked with CJC-1295 No DAC. The choice often comes down to whether appetite stimulation is desired (GHRP-6) or merely tolerated (GHRP-2) in test subjects. For research purposes only.
